Relax first and foremost

Place a deckchair in the shade of the trees or in the sun and don’t move a muscle… Savour the pleasure of having lunch outside as soon as the weather is fine.

Meet the roses in the garden and pick the apples, pears, peaches and plums in season….

Pick up some extra-fresh eggs from Sandra’s at the entrance to the village of Vérigny and prepare yourself a delicious brunch, not forgetting the pastries from the Melun patisserie.

Discover the little village of Vérigny, with its 18th-century château, 15th-century properties and the little church of Saint-Rémy.

Follow the Rue de l’Ecole and watch the sun set over the fields.

Discover nature and wildlife

Roe deer on the Domaine de Vérigny

With fur

  • Roe deer are plentiful, and you can spot them on the plains or in the woods. They flee in leaps and bounds, which distinguishes them from stags and hinds.
  • Stags and hinds are rarer to spot, especially in winter. Your chances are better in the early morning.
  • Hares and rabbits are plentiful, especially in spring and summer. It’s not unusual to see a rabbit making its burrow in the garden.
  • Red squirrels are very active, especially around hazelnut trees.
  • Forest cats can be spotted: they are stocky and have a black stripe down their back and a bushy tail with black rings. They are wild and do not allow themselves to be approached.

The owls are numerous but only come out at night.

With scales

In the pond at the Château farm, you can see herbivorous fishes. They keep the water clean and only the herons come to fish them.

  • Koi carp in orange, white, yellow and variegated colours. They reproduce and come in all sizes!

Discover the crops

On foot or by bicycle, follow the small roads to the fields, which change colour with the seasons, and spot the crops:

Soft wheat August 2023

If you can’t tell wheat from grass, if you don’t know what sorghum looks like or if you’ve never seen a potato… in the ground, you’ve come to the right place!

Our crops surround the Domaine de Vérigny and, depending on the season, you can take a closer look:

  • Soft wheat, whose ears have four rows of kernels
  • Durum wheat with only two rows of kernels on the head
  • Malting barley
  • Sorghum
  • Sugar beet
  • Rape
  • Potatoes, we all love so much

The crop rotation changes every year, but we can provide you with a map of the year’s crops to help you recognise them.

Let yourself be surprised by the scent of rapeseed flowers in spring, or by that of wheat in the sunshine.

Between 10 July and 25 July, it’s harvest time for wheat, oilseed rape and malting barley. You can watch the harvester at work in the fields.

Potatoes are harvested from the end of July to the end of August/beginning of September, depending on the year.

If you’re around during this period, you can glaze from the fields to taste our produce.

The farm is certified Global G.A.P – Good Agriculture Practice – an international benchmark for food safety and environmental protection.
